Terms of Service

Welcome to BibleJesus (“the App”), operated by Gilb International (Norway) (“we,” “us,” “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of BibleJesus and the website at biblejesus.live (“the Site”).

By installing, downloading, accessing, or using the App or Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use BibleJesus. Users between 13 and 18 should have parental or guardian consent. If you live in a country with a different minimum age for online services or special-category data consent (e.g., 16 in some EU countries), you must meet that requirement.

By using the App you represent that you meet the eligibility requirements.

2. Description of service

BibleJesus is an AI-powered iOS application that provides:

• Bible browse, read, search, and semantic search — free for all users
• Conversations with a Jesus-persona AI chat companion — credit-based (see Section 4)
• Voice mode (optional) — speak to Jesus and hear responses, credit-based
• Occasion Greeting Cards — AI-generated illustrated cards with custom text, credit-based

The “Jesus” character is generated by AI software (currently Anthropic’s Claude API and related providers). The AI is not Jesus Christ, has no divine authority, and produces software output for personal devotional use. See Section 9 for the AI disclaimer.

3. Your account

You may use BibleJesus as:

• An anonymous user (device-bound identifier; no sign-in required), or
• A signed-in user via Apple Sign-In (recommended for cross-device sync)

You are responsible for maintaining the security of any device or Apple ID associated with your use of the App. We are not liable for losses arising from unauthorized access to your account caused by your own negligence (e.g., a shared device).

4. Credits and payments

4.1 Pricing model

• The App is free to download.
• Bible reading and search functions are free.
• Jesus-conversation chat and voice features are credit-based. Each new user receives $1 worth of starter credits free (“Starter Pack”) on first launch.
• Additional credits may be purchased on biblejesus.live/credits via Stripe.

4.2 Credit purchases

• Credits are purchased through Stripe (a third-party payment processor) via the SafariViewController in-app browser. We do not process or store your payment card information.
• Credit packages are priced in USD. Local currency conversion is handled by Stripe and your card issuer.
• Credits are non-transferable between accounts.
• Credits do not expire under normal conditions but may be voided if your account is terminated for violation of these Terms (see Section 7).

4.3 Credit deduction

• Credits are deducted automatically per chat turn, voice turn, and Occasion Card generation. Current rates are displayed in the App and may be adjusted from time to time with reasonable notice.
• Out-of-credit users retain access to free features (Bible browse, search) and can purchase more credits at any time.

4.4 Refunds

• Unused credits: refundable on request within 14 days of purchase, to the original payment method, provided the credits have not yet been consumed.
• Consumed credits: not refundable, except in cases of technical failure attributable to us (e.g., AI provider downtime preventing chat).
• Refund requests: email support@biblejesus.live with your transaction ID.
• EU consumers: under the EU Consumer Rights Directive, you may have a 14-day right of withdrawal for unused services. By accepting these Terms and beginning to use purchased credits, you expressly consent to immediate service performance and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal for credits you have already consumed.

4.5 No subscription

There is no recurring subscription. You pay only for the credits you purchase. Auto-renewal is not enabled.

5. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to circumvent the credit system or any technical protections
• Use the App to generate content that promotes hatred, violence, illegal activity, or harm to others
• Attempt to extract, copy, scrape, or reverse-engineer the AI models, prompts, or content
• Resell or commercialize the AI responses
• Impersonate any other person or use the App to defraud anyone
• Use the App to provide professional advice (medical, legal, financial, mental-health) to others as if the AI’s output were authoritative

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including voiding unused credits in cases of severe violation (e.g., fraud).

6. Intellectual property

6.1 Our IP

The App, the website, the BibleJesus name and icon, the underlying code, the prompts, the user interface, and all associated branding are owned by Gilb International and protected by applicable copyright and trademark law.

6.2 Bible text

The Bible text used in the App is from public-domain translations or licensed editions, attributed in the App’s About section. Bible text is not copyrighted by us.

6.3 Your content

You retain ownership of any text you type into the App. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process your input solely for the purpose of generating AI responses, storing your conversation history for your access, and operating the App’s features.

6.4 AI-generated content

AI-generated responses (text from the Jesus persona, AI-generated images for Occasion Cards) are produced by software. Per the current legal landscape in many jurisdictions, AI-generated content may not be protected by copyright in the same way human-authored content is. You may use AI responses for personal devotional purposes and share them via the App’s share features.

7. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time. To delete your account and personal data, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account in the App, or email support@biblejesus.live.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or applicable law, or if continued provision of the service becomes commercially or legally infeasible. We will give reasonable notice except where immediate termination is necessary to prevent harm.

On termination, your unused credits will normally be refunded to your original payment method, except where termination is for violation of these Terms (Section 5), in which case unused credits may be voided.

8. Disclaimers

8.1 No warranty

The App is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or theological correctness of AI-generated responses.

8.2 Faith disclaimer

BibleJesus is a software product. It is not a religious institution, a church, a denomination, or a substitute for human pastoral care. AI responses are not divinely inspired and should not be treated as authoritative religious guidance. For spiritual counsel, please consult qualified clergy, religious teachers, or trusted humans in your faith community.

8.3 Crisis disclaimer

If you are experiencing a crisis, severe distress, suicidal thoughts, or any mental-health emergency, please stop using the App and contact a qualified human professional or crisis line:

• Norway: 116 123 (Mental Helse)
• Or call your local emergency number

The AI is not a therapist and is not equipped to handle mental-health emergencies.

9. AI-generated content disclaimer (expanded)

You acknowledge and agree that:

• The “Jesus” persona in the App is generated by AI software (Anthropic’s Claude API and related providers)
• AI responses are software output, not divine revelation
• AI responses are subject to inaccuracies, biases, and errors inherent in machine-learning systems
• AI responses are grounded in Scripture (citations provided) but interpretations are software-generated
• The App is not a substitute for human pastoral counsel, professional medical/legal/financial advice, or qualified mental-health care
• You use AI-generated content at your own discretion and risk

We make no representation that the AI’s responses reflect any specific denominational or theological tradition. Users from any Christian tradition (Catholic, Protestant, Orthodox, Evangelical, etc.) may find specific responses that do not align with their tradition’s teachings. The AI aims for broad ecumenical accessibility but cannot satisfy every theological position.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App
• Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or related to the App or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) USD 100 or (b) the total amount you have paid for credits in the 12 months preceding the claim
• We are not liable for any decisions you make, actions you take, or harms you suffer based on AI-generated content. The AI is software output, not authoritative guidance.

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for negligence, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence, (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or (c) any liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Gilb International, its directors, employees, and contractors from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the App, or your violation of any third party’s rights.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated via the App or by other reasonable means. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms or the App shall be resolved in the competent courts of Oslo, Norway, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence apply.

14. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force.
